First Haircut

My daughter had her first haircut.  Her hair had grown long, to the middle of her back.  It looked nice, but it was thin because of all the layers that had grown in.  I knew I'd like a bob styled haircut if the stylist thought her hair was thick enough.  I decided to take her to the salon I have been going to for fifteen years.  The energy is great at the salon and I knew they would be friendly and welcoming toward my daughter.

I definitely had a few tricks up my sleeve to get us through this experience.

For my daughter's appointment, I made sure we arrived a few minutes early.  We took our time settling in and saying hello to the stylist so she felt more comfortable.

I brought along a doll to help in case she needed a sense of security.   I didn't let her know I had it until she began asking if the haircut was almost finished.  I then offered her the doll and she held it on her lap.

I offered her a reward at the end.  I promised we'd stop for some doughnut treats if she kept up the good work sitting still and listening to the stylist.

Didn't the stylist do a  great job?  I love the final result!  The best part is she is excited to go back for her next visit.
